Happy (Tummy) Thoughts on a Cool Friday

The weekend has been greeted with cool showers that I guess I liked considering that I didn’t have any plans of going outside my sanctuary on my day off. Then I got myself thinking, what to do in this chilly afternoon?
Well, I guess aside from being cooped up with CSI Vegas 5, a sleeping Cassie and internet, I began exploring on the different kinds of hot treats that will surely satisfy our taste buds.
As for me and Cassie, we were left with quite wonderful choices. First one is a cup of hot Nesquik chocolate tossed with marshmallows. Swiss Miss is the first choice but since we don’t have any, Nesquik does the trick. Milo and Ovaltine are also good alternatives.
Next is my all-time favorite local “sweet” corn. Lucky for Cassie and me, one of our regular “manug-mais” passed by with yellow corn on his tin can. I put butter all over them and rolled it on sugar and voila! SWEET SWEET CORN for Cassie and me!
Another option available is Lucky Me ITNOK. Cook it in the regular way and just add egg and it will really warm our tummies, bigtime.
Well, if I’m out, I would immediately attack SM for Deco’s batchoy. A meal consisting a hot bowl of batchoy, pre-war pandesal and softdrinks to complete it would cost me about P100.00. Not bad huh? And take note, their batchoy is not that oily so it’s tummy-friendly. No acid after pigging out!
Another option would be Arroz Caldo. It’s a common rice porridge that is usually available just about anywhere but the best one would be at our favorite nook beside the old Chamber Fire Brigade Base, beside Tay Tung High School. Just look for Miting after 7pm and I know after you try it, you’ll thank me for it. Her arroz caldo is flavorful and what’s more inviting is the roasted garlic that makes it fantastic.
I know I can’t have all these at once but I know that the next time it rains and I’m cooped up again? I will make sure I have easy access to any of these and would guarantee myself of HAPPY THOUGHTS…and tons of ‘em! 😀
